TIANJIN EXPLOSION (2015)
Tianjin, China

Damaged buildings remain in the aftermath of explosions in the container storage station at Tianjin Port, China. With a storage of tones of hazardous chemicals, the first two explosions occurred within 30 seconds of each other at the facility, the second explosion was far larger and involved the detonation of about 800 tonnes of ammonium nitrate. As the closest residencial building being only 600 m away from the port, series of explosions resulted in damage to more than 1,7000 residences and killed 170 people - 95 of them are firefighters.

Unlike the "in the system" firefighters who are with the same perks and often robust training, most of the second and third tiers are not “in the system”, which means these "migrant" fireflighters are often not full employees, just contract workers. They are included in the Tianjin Port Group, though they are less professionally-trained than public security ministry firefighters.
